December 2025 — A notice on the doors of the Karmel Mall on Lake Street. This whistle is a symbol of looking out for your neighbors. When you’re driving or walking and you see ICE in the area, the whistle represents a warning to stay aware. It’s a reminder for people in the community to be cautious, especially when leaving their building, because ICE might be nearby. The idea is simply to protect one another and stay informed.

December 2025 — A winter scene along the Midtown Greenway, the 5.5-mile rail-to-trail corridor that runs through the heart of Minneapolis. The trench and bridge structures visible here date back to the early 20th century, when the Milwaukee Road railroad used this grade-separated route to move freight without disrupting street traffic. After rail service declined, the corridor was converted in stages beginning in the late 1990s, becoming one of the city’s most heavily used bicycle and pedestrian routes. The snow-covered path shows how the greenway remains active year-round, with cyclists continuing to use the historic trench even in mid-December.
