Police clear barricades on Lake Street in Minneapolis beside a boarded-up storefront and protest signs.
Minneapolis Police officers clear barricades on Lake Street, a major commercial corridor in the Uptown neighborhood. The barricades were erected in the aftermath of protests and unrest following the deaths of Winston Smith and Deona Marie. Smith was killed by law enforcement on June 3rd, and Marie died on June 13th when a driver struck protesters on Lake Street. The area saw significant damage and ongoing activism in the weeks following these events.
