Midnight Marathon Ride Gathers at the Boston Marathon Finish Line

The Boston Marathon finish line sits on Boylston Street in the Back Bay, where the race has ended since 1899. Bank of America has served as the marathon's title sponsor since 2005, and its branding marks the overhead gantry each April. The Midnight Marathon Ride is an unofficial tradition dating to the 1980s, in which cyclists pedal the 26.2-mile course from Hopkinton to Boston the night before race day, retracing the route runners will take hours later. Riders typically gather at the Boylston Street finish before setting out, timing their ride to reach Hopkinton and return by sunrise.
