Alewife Station in Boston’s MBTA Red Line has fare gates at the paid entrance for Ashmont and Braintree-bound service. Alewife is the northern terminus of the Red Line and a major transit hub for northwest Cambridge and nearby commuter traffic. The station’s fare control area includes accessible gates and modern fare readers used for CharlieCard and contactless payment.
