Marktown Park Entrance Sign, East Chicago, Indiana

The Marktown Park entrance sign stands in the Marktown neighborhood of East Chicago, Indiana. Marktown was developed in the early 20th century as a planned industrial community for employees of the Mark Manufacturing Company, and the neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The park is one of the public spaces within this company-town development near Indiana Harbor, where housing and community amenities were built in close proximity to the region’s industrial corridor.
