Tienda La Juventud sits on a cobblestone street in Antigua Guatemala's historic center, a district protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The city was founded in 1543 as the capital of the Captaincy General of Guatemala and retains much of its original colonial street grid despite heavy earthquake damage in 1773. Small family-run shops like this one occupy the narrow streets, selling snacks, drinks, and household goods to residents and visitors alike.
