TD Garden opened in 1995 as the FleetCenter, replacing the old Boston Garden next door, and today serves as home to the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. The arena seats roughly 19,600 for hockey and up to 19,156 for basketball, making it one of the larger indoor venues in the NHL and NBA. Behind it rises the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge, completed in 2002 as part of the Big Dig; at 1,432 feet long, it's among the widest cable-stayed bridges in the world, with ten traffic lanes crossing the Charles River. The bridge's two towers, modeled after the Bunker Hill Monument, carry Interstate 93 between the North End and Charlestown.
