Aquarium Station sits beneath State Street in downtown Boston, named for the New England Aquarium just above its entrance. It's one of four downtown stops on the MBTA Blue Line, which runs between Bowdoin and Wonderland. The station dates to 1904, when it opened as part of the original East Boston Tunnel — the first underwater transit tunnel built in the United States. Wonderland, the line's northern terminus in Revere, opened in 1954 and takes its name from a long-closed amusement park and greyhound track that once stood nearby.
