Police in riot gear stand between a vehicle and counter-protesters outside Minneapolis City Hall during a white supremacist rally. — White supremacist Jake Lang arrived at Minneapolis City Hall today for a planned racist rally. His vehicle and another full of his own private security drove their vehicles onto the sidewalk through counter protesters who had been gathering in preparation for his arrival. While driving through, Lang along with his private security repeatedly assaulted counter protesters as well as the media. Lang has been holding racist protests around the country and this is the second time he’s attempted to hold such an event in Minneapolis. On January 17, 2026 he arrived with about 5 others for a march he had planned. Instead, protesters chased him through downtown where he eventually fled into and out of the back door of a hotel and into the vehicle operated by a good samaritan who wasn’t aware of what was going on. Minneapolis provided a statement later in the day stating that Jake Lang was arrested along with all the others in his 2 vehicles for probable cause riot.
Minneapolis Police stated that one officer had their foot or ankle driven over by one of the 2 vehicles.

On January 24, 2026, federal immigration agents fatally shot 37-year-old Alex Pretti during Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis. Pretti, an intensive care nurse at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System, was killed during an encounter connected to large-scale federal immigration enforcement operations taking place across the Twin Cities. Video recorded by bystanders and witnesses at the scene quickly circulated online and contradicted portions of the initial federal account of the shooting, leading to public outrage and demands for the release of additional evidence. Video showed that Pretti was armed and was shot and killed an after he was disarmed. Pretti’s death sparked days of protests, marches, and confrontations with law enforcement in Minneapolis as demonstrators condemned the federal operation and called for accountability. The shooting became a major flashpoint in ongoing national debates over immigration enforcement, federal policing powers, and the use of force during domestic operations. As of this writing, no one has been held responsible for the killing.

Her death sparked large protests across Minneapolis and intensified national debate over immigration enforcement, the use of federal agents in local operations, and the expanding role of ICE under the Trump administration. Renee Good Lord Of The Rings Quote — As seen at the Renee Good Memorial in July 2026: ""It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out all the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going, because they were holding onto something — that there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for." — Samwise Gamgee, The Lord of the Rings, J.R.R.
