The U.S. Steel East Chicago Tin plant stands in the Indiana Harbor section of East Chicago, Indiana. The facility processed steel for tin mill products used in packaging and other industrial applications, and U.S. Steel ended operations at the plant in 2015. Signage at the site includes the United Steelworkers union, reflecting the plant’s long association with organized steel labor in the Calumet industrial corridor.
