Temporary USPS Station at the Former K-Mart on Lake Street

Lake Street Minnehaha temporary post office housed in former K-Mart building with community murals.

This building on Lake Street served as the former K-Mart site before the US Postal Service converted it into a temporary station. USPS opened the location after the Lake Street and Minnehaha post office branches were destroyed during the unrest that followed George Floyd's killing in May 2020. The temporary station restored mail and package services to the surrounding Longfellow and Powderhorn neighborhoods while a permanent replacement was planned.
