The burned SuperAmerica gas station on Lake Street in Minneapolis stands behind a chain-link fence with its canopy collapsed and interior reduced to charred debris. The station was damaged during the unrest that followed the May 25, 2020 killing of George Floyd, when many businesses along the Lake Street corridor were burned or looted. Before the fire, the site provided fuel and convenience retail services on one of the city’s main east-west commercial streets.
