A Minnesota National Guard member stands watch on the roof of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Forensic Science Laboratory in downtown Minneapolis. The photograph was made on June 1, 2020, during the period of protests and heightened security that followed the killing of George Floyd. The laboratory is a Hennepin County law enforcement facility used for forensic analysis, and National Guard troops were deployed around Minneapolis as a nighttime curfew took effect.
