Caffrey’s Deli & Smitten Kitten Boarded, Minneapolis Protest

Boarded Smitten Kitten and Caffrey's Deli on Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis during George Floyd protests.
The boarded storefronts of Smitten Kitten and Caffrey's Deli on Lyndale Avenue in Minneapolis are shown during the protests that followed the murder of George Floyd in May and June 2020. Plywood covering the ground-floor windows and doors is marked with hand-painted messages including “We want cops in cuffs,” “Don’t burn, we live here,” and “People live here, kids live here.” The businesses occupy the ground floor of the Latham building, where the temporary boarding and graffiti documented both property protection measures and statements from residents and protesters.
Photo taken in June 2020.
