The former Sheraton Hotel in Minneapolis is shown at dusk, with the neighboring Allina Commons building visible at right. In June 2020, after the killing of George Floyd and the unrest that followed in the city, the hotel was repurposed as a temporary shelter for people experiencing homelessness. The building’s use during that period reflected an emergency response to immediate housing and safety needs near the Lake Street corridor.
