Target East Lake Street Mural: Resilience and Community

A mural on the Target Store across from the third precinct. “As part of our plan to reopen the store, we committed to co-creating permanent murals on the store’s exterior that reflect the Lake Street community.” 7 local artists shared their interpretations of the words “rooted, change, resilience, healing, growth, renewal and together.”

Lake Street, Minneapolis: “Deona Marie” Graffiti on Parking Garage

A couple walk across Lake Street in front of a parking garage with graffiti that reads “Deona Marie” “161”. The area has been a place of protest since the June 2021 killing of Winston Smith.

Smith was killed by a federal task force serving a warrant. Protester Deona Marie was killed ten days later when a man drove his vehicle through barricades killing her.
