Speedway Gas Station with Graffiti, 38th & Chicago, Minneapolis

The Speedway gas station at East 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis is shown covered with graffiti and boarded storefront panels in June 2020. The station stood within George Floyd Square, the intersection where George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police on May 25, 2020. In the weeks after his murder, the property became part of a memorial and protest site, with messages painted across the pumps, walls, and doors.
