The memorial is located at 38th Street and Chicago Avenue, where public tributes accumulated after George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police on May 25, 2020. The note asks Gianna, Floyd’s daughter, to hug the toy when she misses her father, placing a personal message of grief within the larger memorial at the site.
