Jakeeno’s Pizza George Floyd Murals, Chicago Ave

George Floyd murals on boarded windows at Jakeeno’s Pizza on Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis, June 2020.
George Floyd memorial murals cover the boarded windows of Jakeeno’s Pizza on Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis. Photographed in early June 2020, the storefront displays hand-painted portraits, flowers, and messages including “Black Lives Matter” and “Say His Name” that were created after Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police on May 25, 2020, a short distance away. The boards turned the restaurant’s facade into a temporary memorial and a marker of the protests for racial justice that spread across the city.
