The Minnesota Governor's Residence on Summit Avenue in St. Paul has served as the official home of the state's governor since 1965, when it was donated to the state by the Irvine family. On November 14, 2020, demonstrators gathered outside the mansion as part of the nationwide "Stop the Steal" movement, which disputed Joe Biden's victory over Donald Trump in that year's presidential election. Members of the Proud Boys, a far-right organization founded in 2016, appeared among the crowd, a presence that became common at pro-Trump rallies across the country in the weeks following the election.
