Post-Election March Passes a Mural on Lake Street

The mural above the marchers depicts a farmworker and desert plants, one of many large-scale works commissioned along Lake Street after the corridor sustained heavy damage following George Floyd's killing in May 2020. Lake Street is a major east-west commercial corridor through South Minneapolis and has long served as a hub for the city's Latino and immigrant-owned businesses. The march passing beneath it took place on November 7, 2020, the day media outlets projected Joe Biden as the winner of the presidential race. Demonstrators carried signs addressing policing and housing as they moved along the street.
