Protesters gathered in downtown Minneapolis outside the Hennepin County Government Center during the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former police officer charged in the murder of George Floyd. The "Black Lives Matter" flags and signs bearing Floyd's image reflect the broader movement for racial justice and police accountability that gained national attention following Floyd's death in May 2020. The courthouse, a significant civic building in Minneapolis, served as a focal point for demonstrations demanding justice and systemic change.
