The protest was held in response to the death of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old man who was shot and killed by Brooklyn Park Police officer Kim Potter during a traffic stop on April 11th. The Brooklyn Center Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. The presence of military vehicles and personnel indicates a significant law enforcement response to the ongoing civil unrest.
