National Guard members patrolled the perimeter of the Hennepin County Government Center in Minneapolis during the 2021 murder trial of Derek Chauvin. The trial, which followed the death of George Floyd, drew significant public attention and necessitated heightened security measures. Temporary fencing was erected around the government center to control access and ensure the safety of the building and its occupants. The presence of the National Guard underscored the tense atmosphere and the potential for civil unrest during this period.
