The Uptown Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is shown at night with its marquee reading “ASSURE YOU WE’RE NOT OPEN” as two Minneapolis police officers with bicycles stand on the sidewalk beneath the canopy. The theater, a longstanding landmark in the Uptown district, was closed during a period of unrest and restricted street activity in late June 2020 following the killing of George Floyd. The image documents police presence along the largely empty commercial corridor near Hennepin Avenue and Lagoon Avenue during overnight street closures.
