Metro Transit Bus 23, Police Car, Cup Foods, George Floyd Square

Metro transit bus and squad card driving on 38th St
A Metro Transit Route 23 bus and a Minneapolis Police squad car are present at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and East 38th Street, known as George Floyd Square, at night. This location transformed into a significant protest zone and memorial following the murder of George Floyd on Chicago Avenue in May 2020. For approximately one year, the area was primarily pedestrian-only, with vehicular traffic gradually being reinstated. The Metro Transit 23 bus service resumed operations through the square a few weeks prior to this image, joining other vehicles that had returned almost three years earlier, marking its return as a vital urban thoroughfare while retaining its significance as a memorial site.
