Chicago Avenue mural in George Floyd Square
Chicago Avenue mural in George Floyd Square.

The names of individuals killed by police are painted on Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis, a street that became known as George Floyd Square following his murder in May 2020. This memorial serves as a public acknowledgment of victims of police brutality and a focal point for ongoing protests and community organizing. The repainting of these names signifies a continued commitment to remembrance and activism in the face of systemic injustice.
