Supporters gather at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis for a protest concerning the case of Myon Burrell. Burrell was convicted of murder in 2002, and his case has drawn widespread attention, with many calling for his exoneration due to questions surrounding the investigation and evidence. George Floyd Square, located at the Speedway gas station at 38th Street and Chicago Avenue, became a permanent memorial and site for community organizing and protest following the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. The square continues to serve as a significant public space for addressing issues of racial justice and criminal justice reform in Minneapolis.
