Proud Boys Clash With Counter-Protesters at MN Governor’s Residence

Counter protesters confront Proud Boys and Stop The Steal demonstrators at Minnesota Governor's Residence in St. Paul.

The Minnesota Governor's Residence at 1006 Summit Avenue in St. Paul was built in 1910 for lumber executive Horace H. Irvine before his family donated it to the state in 1965 as the governor's official home. On November 28, 2020, Proud Boys and other Stop the Steal demonstrators gathered outside its gates, where counter-protesters converged and a confrontation broke out along the fence line. Pepper spray was used in the clash between the two groups. Stop the Steal rallies were held outside several state capitols that month, driven by unproven claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
