Minnesota National Guard troops and military vehicles block Lake Street near the Speedway station in the LynLake area of South Minneapolis on May 30, 2020. Thick smoke rises behind the intersection as firefighters and emergency vehicles respond during unrest that followed the killing of George Floyd. The deployment was part of the state response to secure major commercial corridors and assist local law enforcement and fire operations overnight.
