National Guard Humvee on Lake Street, Minneapolis

A Minnesota National Guard Humvee and a soldier with a riot shield stand on Lake Street in Minneapolis on May 30, 2020, during protests following the death of George Floyd. The Guard was deployed in the city as officials responded to unrest, fires, and damage in commercial corridors including Lake Street. Storefronts, emergency lights, and the largely empty street place the photograph in the overnight security presence that followed several days of demonstrations.
