Demonstrators massed outside the Minnesota State Capitol on November 14, 2020, one of dozens of "Stop the Steal" rallies held across the country that weekend to contest Joe Biden's victory over Donald Trump. Its front plaza and surrounding mall have long served as the traditional site for protests and political gatherings in St. Paul, from labor demonstrations to Second Amendment rallies. Many in the crowd carried flags and signs referencing unproven claims of ballot fraud that Trump and his allies raised in the weeks following the election.
