Indiana Harbor is one of the largest integrated steelmaking complexes in North America, producing flat-rolled steel for the automotive and appliance industries. Equipment like this drives the rolls that reduce heated steel slabs or billets into thinner, longer sections during the rolling process. The overhead crane bay and electrified rail system visible around the stand supply the heavy lifting and power needed to move steel through successive rolling stages.
