Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, Police & Excavator during Shutdown

Single police officer and squad during covid
Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis is seen nearly empty after midnight on March 28, 2020, with a police vehicle and a small excavator on the wet street near Target Center and the Mayo Clinic Square complex. The photograph looks south along a corridor that normally serves one of the city’s busiest entertainment and sports districts. The lack of traffic and pedestrians corresponds with the early COVID-19 stay-at-home period in Minnesota, when downtown activity dropped sharply even as policing and limited construction work continued.
