Hansen-Mueller Grain Elevator Complex, Superior, Wisconsin

Hansen-Mueller Co., a grain merchandiser headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, operates this elevator complex along the Superior, Wisconsin waterfront. The facility stores wheat, corn, soybeans, and other grain shipped in by rail from farms across the upper Midwest before it's loaded onto lake freighters bound for ports on the Great Lakes and beyond. Superior's deepwater harbor, connected to the Atlantic via the St. Lawrence Seaway, has made it a key transfer point for agricultural exports since the early 20th century.
