Federal agents from ICE and BORTAC confronted a man and demanded identification at Park Avenue and 35th Street in Minneapolis on January 12, 2026. The man, who identified as Latino, stated he was released after agents confirmed his U.S. citizenship. The confrontation occurred amidst a growing crowd and increased police presence, leading to the deployment of tear gas and pepper spray against members of the media. This incident took place two blocks from where ICE agents had fatally shot Renee Good on January 7, 2026, highlighting tensions surrounding federal immigration enforcement in the city.
