Federal agents, including Bureau of Prisons officers and BORTAC, deployed tear gas and pepper spray at Park Avenue and 35th Street in Minneapolis on January 12, 2026. This incident occurred during "Operation Metro Surge" and involved the ramming of a vehicle and demands for identification from a Latino man who was subsequently released. The confrontation escalated with the arrival of more officers and the dispersal of tear gas, affecting members of the media.
