The Eiffel Tower stands on the Champ de Mars in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, France. Designed by engineers Maurice Koechlin and Émile Nouguier under Gustave Eiffel's company, it was completed in 1889 as the entrance arch for the World's Fair. The tower rises 330 meters and held the title of tallest man-made structure until the Chrysler Building surpassed it in 1930. It is owned by the City of Paris and operated by the Société d'Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel. The tower draws close to seven million visitors annually, making it one of the most visited paid monuments in the world.
