A protester holds a sign reading "Defund Disband No More Cops" outside the Brooklyn Center Police Department. This protest occurred in the wake of the killing of Daunte Wright by police officer Kim Potter in April 2021. The incident sparked widespread demonstrations and calls for police reform and accountability in Minneapolis and across the United States. The movement to "defund the police" advocates for reallocating funds from law enforcement to community services and social programs.
