Cuzzy's Bar sits along Washington Avenue in the North Loop, a neighborhood of former warehouses and rail depots converted into bars, restaurants, and lofts since the 1990s. Washington Avenue was once the industrial spine of Minneapolis, lined with wholesale grocers and produce houses that supplied the region before the district's decline in the mid-20th century. Bars like Cuzzy's occupy the ground floors of these old brick buildings, many of which are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Warehouse Historic District. The North Loop today draws a nightlife crowd to a stretch of the city once known mainly for freight traffic and warehousing.
