U-7 Nails & Burned Buildings, Chicago Ave, Minneapolis Unrest

A burned commercial building on Chicago Avenue in south Minneapolis stands gutted beside U-7 Nails on June 5, 2020. The brick exterior remains, but the roof and interior have been destroyed, with a partial sign above the storefront advertising building materials and plumbing. The damage was part of the widespread fire and destruction along Minneapolis commercial corridors following the murder of George Floyd in late May 2020. The image documents the immediate aftermath for small businesses in the neighborhood as cleanup and rebuilding began.
