Bruininks Hall Above the River Gorge Near Washington Avenue Bridge

Bruininks Hall sits on the University of Minnesota's East Bank campus, perched at the edge of the Mississippi River gorge near the Washington Avenue Bridge. The building opened in 2000 as the University Gateway Center and was renamed in 2017 to honor Robert Bruininks, who served as university president from 2002 to 2011. It houses several student-facing offices, including admissions, financial aid, and academic advising, consolidating services once scattered across campus. The building's rounded glass exterior sits atop limestone and sandstone bluffs that have defined this stretch of riverfront long before the university expanded onto it.
