An ambulance travels with emergency lights activated along Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, passing the Target store at Nicollet and 9th Street on the night of May 5, 2020. The image shows the largely empty central business district during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, when traffic and pedestrian activity were sharply reduced. It was made weeks before the murder of George Floyd and the unrest that followed in Minneapolis later that month.
