This mill stand, marked with the number 13 and posted with high-voltage and confined-space warnings, is part of the rolling equipment at ArcelorMittal's Indiana Harbor works in East Chicago, Indiana. Indiana Harbor is one of the largest integrated steelmaking complexes in North America, producing flat-rolled steel for the automotive and appliance industries. Equipment like this drives the rolls that reduce heated steel slabs or billets into thinner, longer sections during the rolling process. The overhead crane bay and electrified rail system visible around the stand supply the heavy lifting and power needed to move steel through successive rolling stages.
