Lanterns at Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto, Japan. These lanterns, known as 'tōrō', are a common feature in Japanese shrines and temples, serving both decorative and functional purposes. Yasaka Shrine, also known as Gion Shrine, is one of Kyoto's most famous and historic Shinto shrines, with a history dating back to the 9th century.
