“Black Lives Matter” on Gas Pump, George Floyd Square, Minneapolis

A gas pump at the Speedway station in George Floyd Square, Minneapolis, is marked with red “Black Lives Matter” graffiti. The station stands across from the intersection where George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police on May 25, 2020. Photographed in June 2020, the altered pump shows how businesses and streetscape surfaces in the area were marked with memorial and protest messages as the intersection became a center of mourning and protest.
