Prisoner Transport Buses at the Minneapolis Convention Center
Taken November 2020
The Minneapolis Convention Center, at 1301 Second Avenue South, became a temporary precinct for Minneapolis police after the Third Precinct building on Lake Street burned during the unrest following George Floyd's killing in May 2020. Minnesota State Patrol vehicles and prisoner transport buses staged at the center's loading docks, marked D East and C West, during subsequent demonstrations in the city. The convention center, which normally hosts trade shows and public events, sits blocks from the Nicollet Mall skyway system and downtown high-rises visible along the skyline behind it.
