State Patrol Bus Staged at Minneapolis Convention Center Loading Dock

The Minneapolis Convention Center became a temporary base for Minneapolis Police's Third Precinct after the original station on Lake Street burned during the unrest following George Floyd's murder in May 2020. Minnesota State Patrol units, including LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device) vehicles and transport buses, staged at the center's loading docks during subsequent protests in the city. The Third Precinct's relocation to the Convention Center kept a police presence in downtown Minneapolis while officials debated whether and where to rebuild the burned station.
