Powderhorn Park anchors a residential section of South Minneapolis, its 66 acres laid out around Powderhorn Lake since the park's founding in 1889. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board maintains the grounds, which include the lake itself, open lawns, and a recreation center built in the 1970s. The neighborhood surrounding the park takes its name from the same source, and the park remains one of the larger green spaces on the city's south side.
