A mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and Church on Garfield Avenue in South Minneapolis on August 27, 2025, killed two children and injured seventeen others, fourteen of whom were also children. FBI agents and officers from multiple law enforcement agencies secured the campus as an investigation into the gun violence got underway.

Annunciation Catholic School, founded in 1925 and part of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, serves students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. That evening, hundreds of Minneapolis residents gathered at nearby Lynnhurst Park for a candlelight vigil, where Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, Mayor Jacob Frey, Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, U.S. Representatives Ilhan Omar and Amy Klobuchar, and members of the City Council addressed the crowd. This set covers both the immediate law enforcement response at the church and school complex and the community vigil that followed, together documenting how South Minneapolis confronted one of the most devastating acts of gun violence in the city's recent history.
